Classic Toast Hawaii
A classic German comfort food. Toast Hawaii consists of toasted bread, ham, pinapple rings and melted cheese. A family favorite.

- 8 slices bread
- 2 tablespoon butter
- 8 pineapple rings
- 8 slices ham cooked or cured
- 8 slices cheese Emmental is traditional but you can also use cheddar or gouda or any other sliced cheese.
to serve
- maraschino cherries
- cranberry sauce
Preheat your oven to 200°C or 392°F top to bottom heat.
Toast 8 slices of bread.
Spread the slices with butter (optional)
Lay a slice of ham on each piece of toast.
Drain off any excess liquid from the pineapple and then place a slice on top of the ham.
Lastly, cover the pineapple with a slice of cheese. Place in the oven and bake until the cheese is golden brown.
Serve immediatly with a dollop of cranberry sauce or some maraschino cherries on top.
As a side dish a green salad is perfect.
