  • 500 g flour all purpose flour or plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 3 tablespoon olive oil
  • 250 ml water lukewarm if you are making the yeast dough

To make a yeast dough

  • Mix the flour, yeast, salt and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Add the water and olive oil and mix everything to a smooth dough. Cover the bowl and leave to rest for at least 30 minutes in a warm place.

To make the dough without yeast

  • Mix the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar in a large mixing bowl. Add the water and olive oil and knead everything to a smooth dough. It is ready to use straight away.

To make the stick bread

  • Divide the doughs into 8 potions. Roll each portion to a 20 cm / 8 inch long snake, 2 cm thick, and wrap it around the sticks. Press the dough together to secure it at the tip.
  • Now you can carefully brown your bread above the embers of your campfire. Avoid the open flames as they blacken your dough rather than cooking it.
