Wedding Feast at Leon in Ludgate Circus

Yesterday Dave’s friends Kate and Lewis married in Marylebone Registry Office and celebrated their wedding at Leon in Ludgate Circus. The restaurant is up for party hire at the weekends. For more information check here.

Although I was unsure what to expect of a reception in a chain restaurant, I am completley won over! The food was plentiful, organic and delicous. I have definatley decided that a buffet style wedding breakfast; beats a set menu as guests can have seconds!

The starters were olives, flatbread and humous

Faversham to Whitstable

I joined a walk from Faversham to Whitstable this weekend. Its a really easy  but very beautiful walk to the seashore & then along the seashore to Whitstable. This is a link to the route we took.

Lunch was at the Neppy (Old Neptune) in Whitstable. We arrived quite late (after 3 pm) so were not really spoilt for lunch choices. We ate with few on the sea; but we & our food started to get cold fairly quickly.

I had fish & chips, since we were at the seaside, but to be honest I was not very impressed with the food.

Valentines Meal

This Valentines I let Dave cook for me. He choose a recipe he found in the guardian the weekend before! And it was very nice, even though I only reluctantly gave up my kitchen.

Spanish pork chops with peppers

  • (Serves two)
    8 charlotte potatoes
    2 pork chops
    4 tbsp olive oil
    1 clove of garlic
    2 sprigs of thyme
4 piquillo peppers, sliced and seeds removed
1 tbsp flat leaf parsley, chopped
    30ml vinaigrette

Boil the potatoes in salted water. When they have started to cook, remove from the pan, halve and leave to one side. Just before the potatoes are boiled, prepare the pork: heat a grill pan so it’s hot but not smoking. Lightly season the chops and smear each with a tablespoon of olive oil.Place in the pan with the garlic and thyme and grill for around three minutes each side depending on thickness. When ready, set to rest.

Add two tablespoons of olive oil to a non-stick pan. When it starts to heat, add the potatoes and sauté for a few minutes, then add the peppers. Finish with the parsley and vinaigrette, and garnish the chops with thyme.

Vegetable curry with aubergines and spinach

Last night i had some friends over for dinner. My friend Hayley is a veggie, so I had to think of something to make. I am not really good at vegetarian food; just because I love a piece of meat between my teeth.

However, ever since my friend Nikki taught me how to make curry from scrath with all the spices and so on I am hooked and decided to make Hayley a curry. She (and everyone else) loved and now she want’s the recipe! And here it is

Ingridients

  • 2 cardamon pods
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp tumeric
  • 1 tsp chillie powder
  • 4-5 cloves
  • 2 chillies
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 2 tsp minced ginger
  • 1 stick of cinemon
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 aubergine (chopped in 5 cm cubes)
  • 2 potatoes cubed
  • 1 can of chopped tomatoes
  • some frozen spinach

1. Heat some sunflower oil up in a pan and fry the cardamon pods and cloves for 1 minutes and then add the onion and chillies. The onion needs to be really browned for the recipe to work. Then add the garlic and ginger and fry for another minute or so before adding in the ground cumin and tumeric, garam malsala, chillie powder. Now add in the aubergine, chopped in 5 cm cubes and fry for a good 10 minutes until its soft.

2. Add in the the can of chopped tomatoes, and cubed potatoes and cooked with the lid of for 15 minutes. Now add in the spinach and cook for another 10 minutes or until the poatoes are done.
